Miracle In My Living Room The Story of a Little Mann eBook Evelyn Mann

Even before Samuel arrives, the doctors on the case suspect something is seriously wrong with Evelyn and Ralph’s unborn child. They keep asking whether these parents want to allow this malformed baby to survive in this world. Their request recurs like a drumbeat of doom throughout his six-month hospital stay.

Sustained by unshakeable faith, this courageous couple and their determined baby--who suffers from Thanatropic Dwarfism, a birth defect typically resulting in early death--charge on. Despite what the experts say Samuel, who does not know what it is to breathe without a struggle, defies these dire predictions, exhibits a cheerful disposition and proves he has what it takes to survive.

The parents’ battles to obtain proper care for their challenged son day-to-day include: the right for him to stay in the hospital and be spared a certain death sentence in an uncaring nursing home, to be resuscitated, to be cared for by the most sympathetic nurses, and even the right to change the settings on his ventilator when no nurse or technician is available. Their ordeal confirms that a well-informed family is the patient’s best advocate, since they speak from the heart with their concept of the patient’s best interest in mind.

Hard to put down, this nonfiction life-and-death drama races ahead like a medical thriller. This testament to the human spirit repays the short time required to read it.

Miracle In My Living Room The Story of a Little Mann eBook Evelyn Mann Reviews

Hard to love a difficult story, but it's told with love and determination. Those who enjoy memoirs, personal struggles with hope and moments of joy despite the odds will laugh and cry with this story.
I started reading this book and was pulled in to the lives of these three brave people immediately. The faith and fight that Ralph and Evelyn put in to giving little Samuel a chance against the advice of so many professionals, is truly inspiring. Thank you, Evelyn for sharing this important story with us.
Before I write this review I think it is only fair to state that the author is a dear friend of mine. I love this book because it both inspires and gives practical advice. If you were facing a situation that seems impossible this will inspire you. I know very few people who made it through life without going through something that they genuinely believe they cannot handle. This also is very practical for those who are raising children with special needs. the only thing that is missing is the rest of the story. There needs to be a sequel that tells all of the milestones Samuel has met since coming home from the hospital. I would recommend this book for anyone.
This wonderfully written book tells an emotional but encouraging story of faith and life in spite of challenges and in defiance of odds! It is not often that people are given the opportunity to witness a genuine miracle, but when it does happen, it is cause for rejoicing in the glory of God. Which is why I recommend picking up this book to not only read the story of this family's trials and triumphs, but also to rejoice over what God has done through them and in their lives, and to recognize that it points to Him and serves to glorify Him!

Just as God chose to save Samuel physically and give him life, God chooses to save His children and give them eternal life, if only we believe in Jesus Christ in penitent faith for the forgiveness of our sins.
If you are tired of a negative view point on life, this book is a good read. Evelyn Kraemer talks about the battle of pro-life decision. Her child, Samuel was born with a rare case of dwarfism which will lead to many difficulties. Evelyn talks about how she overcomes these difficulties and how God has given her Victory. That being said, this book isa very upbeat and encouraging little gem.
This book was inspiring and evoked my emotions.
It is indeed a story of hope and faith in God for parents who were determined to see their baby survive despite the doctor's negative diagnosis.
They overcame many trials and obstacles through that eleven-year journey.
Miracles do happen and I believe in miracles because I have experienced many in my life.
I recommend the book to all who are faced with similar circumstances.
Never give up.
Thanatophoric Dwarfism was something I didn't know anything about before I met the Mann family. Samuel has defied all odds and is thriving at 11 years old, which in itself is a miracle, since his disease means "here comes death." The book, Miracle In My Living Room, inspired me for many reasons. It shared primarily the first year of Samuel's life, from the time the Mann's learned, during pregnancy, that Samuel might be "different." This story warmed my heart, showed me how faith can carry us through many challenges, and how faith kept this family believing the impossible, and thus ministering to so many. Samuel's smile lights up the room. His parents' love light up your heart. I especially loved the end of the book, where many families touched by this disease, shared their stories. I believe Miracle in My Living Room is a book that can inspire anyone, especially those facing illnesses and life-saving, versus life-ending decisions. Thank you Evelyn for allowing God to use you, and your family, to give hope to many and to illustrate what living and walking in faith looks like.
